Dear members of the DICP community,
On behalf of the DICP leadership team, I am very delighted to extend my most cordial greetings and New Year wishes to you and your family.
2022 is the year of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the key year for the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and the beginning of a new journey towards the second centenary goal. In this year, Party Secretary Jin Yuqi was elected as the representative of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. We strongly supported the formulation of the "Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality" Implementation Plan by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, solidly promoted the construction of a national-level science and technology platform, and vigorously promoted the establishment of Liaoning Binhai Laboratory.
Now, with milestones passed, I would like share with you some of the progress we have made on our remarkable journey.
It is the first time in the world to "photograph" the full time and space image of photogenerated charge transfer evolution, and the result was published in Nature. Liquid solar fuel technology was selected as "2022 IUPAC Top Ten Emerging Technologies in Chemical Field".
Furthermore, fruitful results have been made in applied research. The world's largest 100MW/400MWh vanadium flow battery energy storage peak-shaving power station was successfully connected to the grid. The world's largest 500,000-ton/year coal-based ethanol project completed mid-delivery. The megawatt-level PEM electrolysis water hydrogen production system and the hydrogen fuel cell power generation system were successfully delivered and put into operation.
Extensive cooperation has been carried out at home and abroad. Focusing on the national "Carbon Neutrality" target, we established strategic cooperation with Yanchang Petroleum, CHN Energy Corp., and China National Coal Group Corp. Responding to the deployment of Northeast revitalization, we tackled technical application jointly with Hengli Group, CNNC, and Huawei. Aiming at multidisciplinary crossing research, we cooperated and constructed platform with Dalian Medical University, Dalian Maritime University, and Southern University of Science and Technology. Relying on key industries in Liaoning Province and Liaoning Binhai Laboratory platform, we strive to create a new ecology of all-round linkage technological innovation; Strategic and technical cooperation were also propelled with the National Academy of Technologies of France, Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences, Cordeel Group (Belgium) and Korea scientists.
2023 is the first year to fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the China Communist Party. DICP will give full play to the joint advantages, focus on the national strategic needs, actively undertake major tasks, systematically promote the reorganization and construction of national key laboratories, and bravely explore our own way in the high-level self-reliance and self-improvement of science and technology.
At the moment of 2023 approaches, I thank you all the staff and students for your tireless efforts in 2022. I would also thank all the colleagues and friends from all walks of life for your valuable support to the development of DICP. May the chime of the New Year consolidate our confidence and re-ignite our aspiration for an even better tomorrow!
