Abstract:

Nanotechnology has made important contributions to medicine over the past several decades. Herein, I will focus on introducing three different kinds of nanomaterials: 1) Rare-earth based nanoparticles, 2)Polyoxometalate (POM) nanoclusters, and 3) Metal oxide nanoparticles. I will mainly show our recent studies of these multifunctional nanomaterialsin cancer multimodality imaging (e.g., MRI, fluorescence, photoacoustic, PET imaging) and therapy (e.g., photothermal therapy, photodynamic therapy),as well as treatment of acute kidney/liver injury and stroke.

Introduction:

Dr. NI received his Ph.D. degree from the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2016. He then joined the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison as a research associate under the supervision of Professor CAI Weibo. His research focuses on the design and synthesis of multifunctional nanoplatforms for applications in cancer multimodality imaging and photo-therapy or treatment of reactive oxygen species (ROS)-related diseases (e.g., acute kidney/liver injury, stroke, neurodegenerative diseases, etc.). Dr. NI has authored >50 papers, including 19 papers as the first or corresponding author, such as Chem. Soc. Rev., Acc. Chem. Res., Nat. Comm., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Nano Lett., ACS Nano etc.His work has received extensive attention, which has been cited >2,000 times (H-index: 23),and 8 papers are ESI “Highly Cited Papers”.Dr NI also authored >30 conference abstracts and he has performed peer-review for >30 journals, including JACS, Angew, ACS Nano, Biomaterials, etc.
