Lecture: Metaproteomic Approaches to Study the Human Microbiomes

Posted: 2018-01-25

Time: 25th January, 2018, 9:00 am
Venue: Room 406, Department of Biotechnology
Lecturer:Prof. Daniel Figeys

Introduction:

Daniel Figeys is Chair and professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, at the University of Ottawa. He is a Tier-1 Canada Research Chair in Proteomics and Systems Biology and a Senior Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. Daniel obtained a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in chemistry from the Université de Montréal. He obtained a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Alberta and did his postdoctoral studies at the University of Washington. His laboratory focuses on the development and applications of proteomic and metaproteomic technologies. The technologies developed in his laboratory are used to study biological processes. For example, they study host-microbiome interactions, the human circadian clock in aging, and protein convertases. His laboratory has published over 170 papers and has been cited over 13,000 times.
