Abstract:In this talk, Dr. Bai will give a brief summary of his work on the development and in vivo evaluation of CB2 receptor-targeted molecular imaging agents and photosensitizers.

Introduction: Dr. Mingfeng Bai is an assistant professor of Medicine, Radiology and Bioengineering at University of Pittsburgh. After receivinghis B.S. degree in Chemistry from Nankai University(Tianjin) in 2001, he moved to the US and joined the graduate school at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Tennessee). He was awarded a M.S. and Ph.D. degree in Chemistry in 2003 and 2007 respectively, followed by three years of postdoctoral training at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine (St. Louis, Missouri). In October 2010, he started working as an Assistant Professor on the tenure track at the Department of Radiology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and initiated Molecular Imaging Laboratory setup. Dr. Bai has many years of experience in the field of Molecular Imagingresearch. Specifically, he has expertise in the syntheses, biological characterizations and in vivo evaluation of targeted molecular imaging probes and photodynamic therapy agents. He developed a series of molecular probes that target cannabinoid CB2 receptor and translocator protein (TSPO), as well as several novel near infrared fluorescent dyes for biomedical imaging. His work has been summarized in over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and 5 US patents (4 approved and 1 pending). He is a frequent panel reviewer for the National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DOD) and National Science Foundation (NSF), and manuscript reviewer for over 40 journals.
