SCIENTIFIC PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Post-doc research fellow, Glycosciences Laboratory, Imperial College London

Elucidation of Carbohydrate Antigen Recognition by B-Cell Receptors of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia

A dedicated carbohydrate microarray was constructed and interrogated by more than 70 B-cell receptors. These results are being assembled for publication.

PhD, Glycosciences Laboratory, Imperial College London

Characterization of Human Cancer-associated Carbohydrate Antigens

Two elusive human cancer-associated carbohydrate antigens F77 and AE3 were investigated. The prostate cancer-associated antigen F77 was fully characterized. The results have been published in JBC and presented on The 2014 Glycobiology Meeting. My data showed there are two distinct forms of the AE3 antigen which is distributed broadly among many epithelial cancers. A manuscript discussing this feature is in preparation.

MSc, Glycoscience and Glycoengineering Laboratory, OUC

Construction and Application of a Marine Oligosaccharide Library

My MSc research topic was to study the structure of alginate oligosaccharides and their sulphate derivatives as the latter have strong anti-coagulant activities comparable to heparin. It is in the biomedical and pharmaceutical aspects of carbohydrates. As a student, I performed most of the experiments and gradually built up a library of sequence-defined glycans.
