Introduction:

Prof. Weidong Yue is Director of Center for Translational Neurology of Liaoning Province, Dalian Medical University, Vice director of The First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University.

Prof. Weidong Yue carried out research in the area of neurology in baylor college of medicine of U. S. A for more than twenty years. He has been appointed as professor of neurology of baylor college of medicine of U. S. A, the director of research center for Parkinson's disease of baylor college of medicine of U. S. A, part-time professor of geratology of baylor college of medicine of U. S. A, Honorary Professor of School of Medicine, University of Hong Kang, Professor of Neurology and director of research institute of Ruijin Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, executive director of Institute of biomedical sciences, Ruijin Hospital and Professor of "100 talents plan" in Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences of CAS.

He has made internationally recognized achievements in the research area of gene regulation of dopamine neuron development, directed differentiation of embryonic stem cells into dopaminergic neurons, the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases, biological markers and targeted therapy of Parkinson disease, protein degradation and neurodegenerative diseases. He has published 190 articles in international academic journals including Nature Genetics, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA and Journal of Neuroscience with impact factors of more than 800 and citations of more than 6000 times. He was entitled by Elsevier as the China's most influential scholars in neuroscience in 2014 (rank 3rd) , who is the only top five scientist in the area of neural science from northeast china.

He has published six books including participating in the compiling of Neurology Encyclopedia Americana. He has six patents approved or under examination. He has been supported by 23 international research fund, among which he was the chief scientist of 12 research funds, including three RO-1 research funds from NIH, one Key Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, six General Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, and participated in four projects of "973 program".

He has been honored the second prize of the advanced science and technology award of state education commission in 1989, conference award of the international Parkinson and Movement Disorder Disease Society in 1999; conference award of the American Academy of Neurology in 2002; Annual award of Wistar Institute Vincent J. Cristofalo Memorial of U. S. A in 2008; the second prize of Chinese Medical Science in 2008; the second prize of Shanghai Medical Science in 2008 and honorary award of Dr. S. T. Huang-Chan Memorial, University of Hong Kang in 2009.

He has been appointed as the review experts of NIH, VA, INSERM, Science Foundation of Singapore, national foundation of china and ministry of science and technology of China. He has been the president of several international academic conferences. He is the vice-chief editor of Plos One and Journal of Alzheimer’s disease, the editor of Autophagy, Neurodegenerative Disease, Drug Design and Bioscience. In international academic exchange activities, he has been appointed as the head of american medical delegation sponsored by "Chunhui Plan" of Ministry of Education for three times; He proposed and organized the first to fifth SINO-US Symposium on Medicine in the 21st Century and hosted the organizing committee of U. S. A. He was the general secretary of first and second world medical summit and president of Society for medical and biological engineering, Association of American Experts.
