Time:2015.9.17(Thursday)10:00-11:30
Location:No. 2 meeting room, conference center of energy building
Lecturer:Prof. Jianbo Zhang, Tsinghua University
Abstract: The talk consists of three parts: 1. Introduce the basic concept of EIS, measurement procedure and cautions, and data representation and analysis; 2. Review the application of EIS in the characterization of fuel cell; 3. Discuss an interesting finding of EIS behavior of Pt black and its interpretation.
Biography: Worked in the field of fuel cell and battery in Nissan Research Center for 10 years. Published work during this period includes the investigation of water distribution in polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFC) under operation with neutron radiography, and the examination of platinum oxidation/reduction/dissolution process and mechanism with advanced electro-analytical methods such as CV/RRDE/CFDE/EQCN/PDEIS. The work in the water distribution visualization established a new, effective, and in-situ way of examining the liquid water distribution inside the cell. The two papers published in Electrochimica Acta in 2005 were cited for more than 200 times.
Current research interests include the thermal characteristics of large format lithium ion battery, thermal management of battery package, fast charging technique at low temperature. Research on the PEM fuel cell includes the mass transport inside the membrane-electrode-assembly, water management and durability, low temperature startup, flow field modelling and design, etc.
