Abstract

The synchrotron radiation has played a critical role in many scientific areas, such as protein crystallography that foster several Nobel prizes, chemical sciences, materials sciences, and environmental sciences, etc. The Beijing synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF) is the first synchrotron in China and played an important role in scientific and technological applications mainly by Chinese users. However, due to the parasite mode, i.e. sharing beam-time with high energy physics on the same machine, there are some technical limitations for BSRF. There was a strong need for high energy photon source which promises highest brilliance and lowest emittance. Until now, both scientific and economy development in China indicates the needs of High energy photon source should be and can be fulfilled.

In this talk, I will briefly introduce the Beijing synchrotron Radiation facility and the future High Energy Photon Source (HEPS) in China. Then I will introduce the nuclear resonant scattering beamline to be realized in this new source. The final subject in this talk is the high energy resolution monochromator we have been developing in collaboration with APS scientists. We hope to activate the interests of chemical physicists and the M?ssbauer community to support the construction of the nuclear resonant scattering beamline in HEPS.

Introduction

2005-2010 Ph.D. Condensed Matter Physics, Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing

2012/07-present Associate Professor, Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Science

His major expertise is the computational and experimental X-ray absorption spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence microspectroscopy, with high interests in understanding the structure-property relationships of various functional materials. His second expertise is the instrumental/methodology development on synchrotron.
