The annual program summary of “Foundation of Artificial Photosynthesis of Solar Fuels”, a project funded by the Basic Research Program of China (973 program), was held on December 11th in DICP. The conference participants are the program-tracking expert, Professor SUN Yanping, the program expert group including Prof. Can Li (Academician of CAS), Prof. TONG Zhenhe (Academician of CAS), Prof. WANG Xuxu, Prof. SUN Licheng, Prof. XU Yiming, Prof. YAO Qiang, and the program members including the sub-project leaders, project backbones, together with part of teachers and students from DICP. Prof. LI (Chief Scientist) chaired the progress presentation of programs. Prof. TONG Chaired the panel discussion.
Prof. LIU Gang (MRS), Prof. ZHANG Tierui (TIPC), Prof. ZHANG Fuxiang (DICP) presented the annual research progresses of the sub-projects they leaded. The program expert group then had an intensive discussion and fully accredited the substantive research progresses and achievements. The experts also gave valuable advices concerning new standards establishment, new material development, new methods application, targets setup and light-electricity research collaboration. The experts hoped that the program team could further sum up several landmark achievements and guide the directions for the future research. The experts also suggest a collaborative research on the aspects of light harvesting, charge separation, catalytic reaction and the mechanism to gain more breakthrough achievements on the reaction efficiency, reaction theory or the device construction.
The 973 program of “Foundation of Artificial Photosynthesis of Solar Fuels”, led by DICP, collaborated with MRS, TIPC and DTU, addresses key scientific issues in solar fuels, such as developing new efficient photocatalytic materials with wide spectrum response, building efficient artificial simulated enzyme to evolving hydrogen and oxygen from water, building overall water splitting system, temporal and spatial resolution spectrum and theory simulation, solar to hydrogen reaction system coupled with CO2 reduction, etc. (Text by LI Deng and Image by YE Sheng)
