In the 41st international symposium on high performance liquid phase separations and related techniques held on Sep. 22th of 2015 (HPLC 2015, Beijing), Academician Yukui Zhang was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award in Chromatography to Academician Yukui Zhang who is recommended by Chinese Chromatography Society and approved by Standing Committee of HPLC Scientific Committee.
Academician Yukui Zhang graduated from Department of Chemistry, Nankai University in 1965. After that, he has been working in Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics until now. He is Consulting expert for National Key Basic Research Program (973 program) of China, Expert team member of National High-tech R&D Program, Vice President of China Association for Instrument Analysis, the president of Chinese Chromatography Society, the chief editor of Chinese Journal of Chromatography, and international editor of Anal. Chem. He has published more than 500 papers in SCI journals and applied for more than 100 invention patens. He was awarded Second Prize of National Natural Science Award and the first prize of Scientific and Technological Achievements of Liaoning Province.

Academician Yukui Zhang's research is focused on the fundamental study and development of new techniques and methods of chromatography and made tremendous contribution to the development of chromatographic science of China and made great achievements in the area of thermodynamics, dynamics and expert systems of chromatography. On the basis of thorough theoretical study, he put great emphasis on the completion of national commissions as well as application and development of instruments. On this basis, he developed and commercialized the whole series of liquid chromatographic instruments and related instrumental components. In recent years, following the trend of analytical chemistry and international front-edge and combining the requirement of national important application area, he kept a close eye on the interdisciplinary development of analytical science and life science. His main research area is high efficient separation and high sensitive detection of proteins. During the scientific research, he insisted on the people-oriented principle, accorded great importance to the cultivation of talents. He has supervised more than 50 postdocs and Ph. D. students. They play important roles in several areas such as the basic research of analytical science and application, development and commercialization of instruments.
