Prof. Frank J. Gonzalez, the chief of laboratory of metabolism, Center for Cancer Research in National Cancer Instituteof USA was invited to give “Zhang Dayu Lectureship (XIV)”, in DICP on 27th August. The lecture title is “Metabolomics in Biomedical Research”, which was hold in the conference hall of biotechnology building. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Ling Yang. Nearly a hundred of researchers and students in DICP attended this event. Prof. Xueming Yang, the vice director of DICP, on behalf of the institute awarded the certificate of Zhang Dayu Lectureship and the Honory Professor of DICP to Prof. Gonzalez.
Prof. Gonzalez gave a briefly introduction about metabolomics study in biomedical research, then he took some works which was carried out in his lab as examples to explain the application of metabolomics in drug toxicity study and early cancer biomarker identification. When the lecture was finished, people were giving a round of applause. After thelecturewas the creativediscussion, whichfocusing on hot topics in currentmetabolomics and cancer research.
In the afternoon,Prof. Gonzalez visited some of the labs inbiotechnologydepartment. He was impressed and gave high evaluation of the advanced facility and cutting edge research in DICP.
Prof. Gonzalez has won the awards from American Journal for Clinical Pharmacology, American Society of Pharmacology and Experiment Therapeutics, American Society of Toxicology and the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics and a 12-time recipient of the Federal Technology Transfer Award, who mainly engaged in the research areas of P450 drug metabolizing enzymes expression, humanized animal model development, metabolomics and carcinogenesis of chemical toxicants. Prof. Gonzalez has published more than 1000 papers include papers in SCIENCE,NATURE and CELL, and the total citationis over 50 thousand times, H index as high as 112 ,ranked as the top three of Global Pharmacology, Toxicology scientific papers cited.
