The development of proteomics was hindered by the low profiling rate of tandem mass spectrometry data. The recently developed precise proteomics based on high resolution mass spectrometry data may solve this problem. The report used MaxQuant and pFind software to analyze the proteomics data from Mann's lab in Max-planck institute of biochemistry. The profiling rate of current high resolution tandem mass spectrometry with high quality, the reason of low profiling rate for previous low resolution tandem mass spectrometry data, as well as the possibility and ways to obtain higher profiling rate in the future were analyzed. It was expected that the bottleneck of data analysis for proteomics will be broken soon.
