
Prof. Johannes A. Lercher, prominent catalytic scientist from the Technical University of Munich, Germany, was invited by DICP to present a special Dayu Zhang Chair Lecture on 9th October. The title of Prof. Lercher’s lecture was: “From biomass to tailored energy carriers via selective catalysis in aqueous phase”. The Dayu Zhang Chair lecture was established by DICP to honor the late Prof. Dayu Zhang, a famous physical chemist in China and the First Director of DICP. This was the 9th Dayu Zhang Chair Lecture, and about 400 DICP scientists and graduate students attended the lecture.
After the lecture, an exchange colloquium on the topic of “Professional Development and Growing-Up of Graduate Students” was held, and Prof. Lercher was invited to share his ideas and experience with the DICP graduate students. During the colloquium, Prof. Lercher gave in-depth and detailed answers as well as suggestions to the questions raised by the DICP students.
