　　Introduction：The DICP Symposium on Modern Separation/Analytical Chemistry and Metabonomics will be held on April 19-20, 2005 at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP). DICP Symposium is aspecialseries of international conference named after DICP, and wasfounded with the purpose to promote the internationalcommunication and collaboration between the DICP and theinternational scientific community, to discuss new researcharea or emerging research direction in-depth, and to enhancethe creativity ability in research. The conference is supportedby a special foundation of the institute.The symposium aims to report state-of-the-art separationtechniques, discuss the frontier topics in analytical chemistryand biochemistry, especially scientific progress andtechnological breakthroughs on metabonomics and systemschemical biology. Twenty-threerenowned experts in thisfield will give invited talks at this symposium.
